Meet Marcelo
I am an international student from Brazil, currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and a Bachelor's degree in Marketing at Loyola University Chicago in the United States.
I am interested in working in the events or music industry, and I have already begun working on various types of activities, from promoting Latino & Brazilian events in Chicago and leading a community for Brazilian international students.

Information Systems Journey
My Information Systems journey has been very hands-on and practical. Throughout university so far, I’ve learned how to work with relational databases using SQL, design ERDs, understand primary and foreign keys, and apply normalization (1NF, 2NF, 3NF) to properly structure data. I’ve also worked extensively with Excel and Access, building queries, forms, and reports, and using tools like VLOOKUP, IFERROR, and pivot tables to analyze data. Overall, INFS taught me how data is stored, organized, queried, and used to support real business decisions.

Through trial and error, I learned how to position events, understand target audiences, track results, and adjust strategies based on what actually works. More recently, I’ve been applying these skills in a professional setting through my internship at Crebit, working closely with sales to acquire new customers and better understand how marketing and sales connect inside a real company. Even though I haven’t taken many marketing classes yet, I’m excited to dive deeper into the field during my junior and senior years in university and build on what I’ve already learned in practice.
